Introduction: ABAP is one among the various application-specific fourth-generation languages (4GLs) first developed in the 1980s.
It had been originally the report language for SAP R/2, a platform that enabled large corporations to create mainframe business applications for materials management and financial and management accounting.
ABAP establishes integration between independent software.
The name of ABAP was an abbreviation of Allgemeiner Berichts Aufbereitungs-Prozessor in initial stage.
But It was later renamed to the English name Advanced Business Application Programming.
This language was one of the first languages which included the concept of Logical Databases (LBDs) system.
This provides a high level of abstraction from the basic database level(s), which supports every platform, language, and unit.
The ABAP language originally was used by developers to develop the SAP R/3 platform.
